The Failure Investment
Why Losing Fast Beats Winning Slow
Every week, I share battle-tested frameworks to help you Escape the Script—the life plan that was written for you before you could hold a pen. This isn't motivational fluff or empty productivity tips. It's strategic rebellion for high-performers who've realized that working harder at the wrong game just digs you deeper into someone else's dream.
Through contrarian insights, self-mastery systems, and uncomfortable truths, I help you:
- Kill the assumptions keeping you trapped in loops you didn't design
- Build daily practices that compound into irreversible freedom
- Master your mind, energy, and recovery before they master you
- Create escape velocity from gravitational life patterns
One unscripted decision at a time. One percent freer every day.

The Failure Investment
I lost $15,000 in 6 months and it was the best investment I ever made.
I'd spent three years "researching" the perfect business idea. Reading books, taking courses, building the perfect plan. Zero risk, zero action, zero results.
Then I got tired of planning and just started. Launched a product nobody wanted. Built features nobody used. Spent money on ads that didn't convert. Six months later, I shut it down.
My friends saw failure. I saw the most expensive MBA program bargain in history.
Those six months of failing taught me more about business than three years of safe learning. Not because I enjoyed losing money, but because failure is just data at velocity.
The Safety Trap
We're programmed to avoid failure at all costs. Plan more, research more, prepare more. Wait until conditions are perfect. Minimize risk until success is guaranteed.
But here's what nobody mentions: While you're perfecting your plan, someone else is on their third iteration of actually doing it.
The person who fails three times in a year learns more than the person who spends a year avoiding one failure. It's simple math—more attempts equals more data equals faster learning.
My Failure Portfolio
After that first $15,000 lesson, I changed my entire approach. Instead of avoiding failure, I started collecting it.
Failed podcast (3 months): Learned I hate editing audio Failed course (2 months): Discovered my teaching style
Failed newsletter (4 months): Found my actual voice Failed partnership (6 months): Understood my work style
Each failure took months, not years. Each one taught me something planning never could. And the compound effect? My successful business was built on the graveyard of those failures.
The newsletter that now reaches thousands? It works because I know exactly what doesn't work. The product that generates six figures? It exists because I already built five that didn't.
The Velocity Difference
My friend Sarah spent two years building the "perfect" app. She researched every feature, polished every pixel, anticipated every problem. Launch day came—nobody cared. Two years and $50,000 to learn her core assumption was wrong.
Meanwhile, I launched and killed five different products in those same two years. Each cost me $3,000 and three months. Same total investment, but I got five times the data and found two concepts that actually worked.
She got one expensive "no." I got five cheap "no's" and two profitable "yes's."
The difference isn't intelligence or resources. It's velocity. She failed slow and expensive. I failed fast and cheap.
Strategic Failure Rules
Not all failure is created equal. Jumping off a cliff without a parachute isn't strategic—it's stupid. Strategic failure follows rules:
Time-boxed: Set a deadline. If it's not working by then, kill it. Budget-capped: Decide maximum loss upfront. Never exceed it. Lesson-focused: Document what you learn, or you're just losing.
Every failure should answer a specific question. "Will people pay for this?" "Can I do this consistently?" "Does this actually solve the problem?"
If you're not learning, you're not failing strategically—you're just failing.
The Success Paradox
Here's the counterintuitive truth: The fastest path to success is through rapid failure.
While everyone else spends years avoiding one failure, you can experience ten. While they're still planning, you're already iterating. While they're protecting themselves from loss, you're investing in learning.
Success isn't about avoiding failure. It's about failing faster and cheaper than your competition until you find what works.
Your First Failure
This week, launch something you're 60% ready with. Not 100%. Not 90%. Sixty percent.
A blog post you're unsure about. A product idea you haven't validated. A service you might not be qualified for. Something that might fail.
Set a budget you can afford to lose—maybe $100 or just your time. Set a deadline—maybe 30 days. Then launch it and see what happens.
If it fails, you'll learn something worth more than the cost. If it succeeds, you'll be months ahead of where perfect planning would have taken you.
Either way, you win.
Stop trying to win slowly. Start failing fast.
Your success is waiting on the other side of your next failure.
